Do you have painful, bleeding gums, bad breath or loose teeth? Periodontal disease destroys the gum tissue and if left untreated attacks the bone underneath causing reduction of gums and bone, commonly know as ‘long in the tooth’. As a result, teeth loose their support structure, and if left untreated can start to become loose. The main aim of NON-Surgical periodontal treatment is to stabilise the gums to prevent further destruction. Periodontal therapy is usually carried out over two one-hour appointments once you have a good oral hygiene regime in place.

Local anaesthetic will be administered and a deep clean of underneath the gums with be carried out usually with an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments to make sure all tartar and bacteria is removed. After treatment it is important to come for routine hygiene appointments to monitor and maintain the gums. Leaves your mouth feeling cleansed and healthy.
